Got up an hour later than usual (around 6:00 am), showered and ate breakfast.
Nadine drove Bruce, Brian and me to the
Victoria Express terminal where we boarded the boat to Victoria.
After a one hour crossing we proceeded through Canadian Immigration, where
both Bruce and I were taken into the back room for further questioning. I
guess we look too much like terrorists. This delayed us only 15 minutes or
so, and once done we first went to the British Columbia Provincial museum,
where we saw an interesting exhibit on Tibet as well as other exhibits detailing life in
British Columbia throughout history. After a couple of hours we went to the
museum cafe and relaxed over a latte (and
used my "latte lock"). We spent some time walking around the downtown
area and did some window shopping, then
ate a delicious lunch (calamari and seafood wrap). More window
shopping followed, including a trip to a glass blowing studio to watch the artists at
work. They had many beautiful pieces but were very expensive. Bruce headed off for a
massage, and Nadine, Brian and I went down to the seawall to sit in the sun
and people watch. We really enjoyed relaxing, although I should have used
more sunscreen. We met back up and caught the 6:15 pm boat back to Port Angeles,
where we stopped at Safeway for deli
food for dinner since they had stopped serving earlier. Back at the school
we ate and got our gear ready for tomorrow, then headed to bed. Some local kids set off fireworks
several times overnight, but I only heard them once.
