Day 0 - August 20th - The Day Before

I caught a ride to Bellingham with Nadine Webster, a long-time friend from years of volunteering for ALAW bicycle rides.  Nadine is one of the volunteer road staff for RAW 2005; it will be nice to have her out on the road supporting us. Nadine, Bruce and I are staying with my aunt and uncle, Joe and Kathleen Coffman, who live in Bellingham. No need to start the camping experience too early!

Nadine and I arrived at Fairhaven Middle School in Bellingham right at 7:00 pm, and I checked in and picked up my jersey, t-shirt, and first days route guide.  We then hung around for a while as the rider meeting was at 8:00.  The rest of the group (Bruce, Brian, Steve, Jennifer, Gerry, Bruce Z., Paula, Courtney and Chuck) arrived after dinner at Gerry's daughter Robin's house.  After a somewhat entertaining and informative meeting, Bruce, Nadine and I headed for Joe and Kathleen's where we had some delicious apple crisp with ice cream.  We spent some time organizing our gear, then went to sleep, anticipating the start of a great week of riding in the morning.
