Big Ride Pacific Coast 2006!
Click here for route map and description
My original plans for this summer were to train for and ride the Pacific Coast. I accomplished one of my dreams in 2004 by riding my bicycle across the United States (see Big Ride Across America 2004), and this was another chance to contribute my time and fundraising to the American Lung Association, as well as join some close friends in another adventure. However, life got in the way and I was not able to sufficiently train for this ride, so instead I participated as one of the road crew. As part of my responsibilities I helped ensure that all the riders got from Seattle to San Francisco safely. While I felt every day that I would like to be on my bike, I also had a great time in this role. I took quite a few pictures which I've posted on the individual day pages.
Here are the details...
Bicycle ride from Seattle to San Francisco
960 miles in 15 days (September 9th to 23rd)
Average 77 miles/day in 13 days of riding, with 43,000 feet of climbing
Total of 38 cyclists, each fundraising at least $2,000 for the American Lung Association of Washington
