Tulip Ride - April 21-22, 2007

Liam, Payton and I drove up to Mount Vernon on Saturday in our motor home and set up camp at the Riverbend RV Park.  We were joined there by Steve and his friend Don, Jeanette and Richard, and Jessica.  We at a delicious grilled chicken potluck dinner, and hung out in the motor home socializing while Jessica entertained Payton (which Payton enjoyed immensely!).  We awoke Sunday morning and Erin arrived just in time for breakfast; we munched on Jeanette's famous breakfast burritos, then headed out onto the flat roads of western Skagit County in search of flowers.  While we were prepared for rain (well most of us, I had to borrow a rain jacket from Steve), the temperature was quite mild and the sun slowly burned away the clouds.  We met Gerry, Lo, Sean, Michelle and others at Tulip Town, which was one of the two places where we saw flowers (the others had been cut a couple of weeks prior during their prime).  We all rode together into La Conner (into a headwind or quartering crosswind, of course!), and settled in for a great lunch and socializing at the La Conner Brewing Company.  Then we said farewell to Gerry's group (they had started in La Conner) and rode back to the campground.  The ride back was much easier with more of a tailwind, which provides a significant advantage while pulling the trailer.  Another great weekend ride with some very special people!
